SPRING HARVEST

Darlou Gams, Ilumminated 5, Oil on Panel, 12 x 12.

"Spring Harvest," Bowersock Gallery's inaugural 2023-24 season exhibit, will introduce new artists, fresh works by favorites, and a sneak peek of things to come.

"Spring Harvest" opens Friday, May 26th, 2023 with a reception from 7-9 pm at Bowersock Gallery, 373 Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA. The show runs through June 15th.

"Artists work year-round, of course. But long, dark winter nights engender reflective works, and lots of them, as the latest gallery collection would seem to attest," Curator Steve Bowersock says. "I've already had a look at much of the new work for this season, and let's say it's an exquisite, bounty of exceptional art."

We are proud to introduce new artists into the gallery, some of who will be introduced at "Spring Harvest," including sculptor Charles Kibby. Kibby's abstract nature-influenced, stone-assemblage pieces are simultaneously warm and edgy. The vertical, parametric-design towers emit a soft light from within, transforming stonework into a more vibrant and expressive medium.

"Finally, after years of searching, we've found a talented artist creating exciting and unique outdoor sculpture," Bowersock says. "His intriguing, illuminated works are truly stunning."

Sculptor John Brickels, relatively new to the gallery yet already with a committed international following, will also have numerous works on display. Brickels is known for his intricately detailed boats and stylized Boston row houses.

Featured "sneak peeks" of new works by stable artists include: Darlou Gams’ evocative, moody, tonal, landscapes in oil; Steve Bowersock's emotional, surreal oils, and Emma Ashby's masterfully executed encaustic landscapes, "all-new, given her show sold out almost immediately last year," Bowersock notes. Both painters Sheila Barbone (Provincetown scenes) and Kevin Kusiolek (sea and cityscapes) will be presenting as well.

And of course, the entire stable of artists will be represented featuring: landscapes, still-life, figurative and abstract pieces, from traditional paintings to bronze sculptures, beaded works, mache, clay, encaustic, wood, mixed media, glass and bronze, a true feast for the senses, a multitude of mediums.

"This is going to be a very exciting year, with all the gallery's favorite artists returning, along with fresh, new talent, " Bowersock says. "We just can't wait to share"!
