Krislee, Larkin Gallery

  • Larkin Gallery 405 Commercial Street Provincetown, MA, 02657 United States (map)

Krislee, a.k.a. Christine, was born in the Bronx and grew up in Brewster, New York. Chris studied at Buffalo State University, graduating with a degree in Art Education. While visiting an artist friend in Provincetown in late summer 1962, Chris met her future husband, Chuck Leigh. Later, while she and Chuck were living on Long Island, Chris pursued her interest in painting and tried her hand at ceramics, selling them at local craft shows. She progressed into stained glass work, teaching herself the process and excelled, successfully marketing her work as she and Chuck traveled the east coast.

Chris sold her stained-glass panels and constructions at juried exhibitions, won numerous awards and was collected by many. Chris also continued her painting and taught herself the art of cloisonné. Many of her paintings were inspired by her stained glass and cloisonné. Krislee’s stained-glass jewelry boxes and her abstract paintings represent a harmony that elevates one’s keen appreciation of each piece and of her unique aesthetic.
