Members of Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) and Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum (PMPM) are exhibiting their work in a juried exhibition during PMPM’s 2024 season. Artists were asked to submit work related to the theme of “Forum 49.”
The Legacy of Forum 49: A Members’ Juried Exhibition was juried by artists Cid Bolduc and Grace Hopkins from a field of works inspired by, informed by, or otherwise engaged with the figures, work, and values of Forum 49.
In Provincetown in the summer of 1949, a course of programs, discussions, and viewings was offered featuring a group of artists and writers shaping the face of contemporary art. Each Thursday at the 200 Gallery at 200 Commercial Street, record crowds gathered for panel discussions on architecture, psychoanalysis, poetry, jazz, and other media. It began with the forum What Is An Artist? and ended with the all-town panel Everyone’s Forum. Learn more about Forum 49.
Members of PMPM or PAAM enjoy free admission to either institution in 2024; please check individual websites for hours. Joint admission passes will be made available to the general public for $30.
