It’s a ‘Small’ World at Bakker Gallery

Arts Briefs for Nov 25 through Dec 1

BY THE INDEPENDENT NOV 23, 2021

Bakker Gallery is showing 16 “smalls” by Arthur Cohen through Dec. 31 at 359 Commercial St. in Provincetown. These notecard-size paintings, no bigger than 5 by 7 inches, are looser than Cohen’s larger, more exacting work, where the surfaces are built up over multiple layers. These, instead, depict intimate moments: the silhouette of the Provincetown Monument on the harbor; studio interiors; Cohen’s wife, Elizabeth, seated at the piano. The gallery is open Friday through Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
