35 (Rainbows in the Dark): New Paintings by Paul Rizzo
Four Eleven Gallery, located at 411 Commercial Street in Provincetown, announces 35 (Rainbows in the Dark): New Paintings by Paul Rizzo. Of these paintings, Rizzo says, “I’ve been working with collaged imagery of Provincetown, home, or an imagined home. Self portraits and object self-portraits are a way of exploring myself and technique.” There will be an opening with the artist on Friday, September 16th from 7-9 PM. The show runs through Thursday, September 29th. In addition to the show, Rizzo’s artworks will be available to view and purchase at fourelevengallery.com
Paul Rizzo is a painter and sketchbook filler who lives and works in Provincetown Massachusetts. He works with and from 70s gay porn, portraiture, abstraction, houses and text. His work is also about nostalgia both for a time he lives in and a time he has not technically lived through. He is obsessed with the past, specifically old Hollywood and the 1970s. A process painter, he loves getting lost in documenting and/or the making of art.
