The Perfect Form, Artists Dave Seeke and Morgan Laplante

"The Perfect Form," Bowersock Gallery's latest exhibit, explores the timelessness of the human form through the eyes of Dave Seeley and Morgan Laplante, two painters with very different yet equally strong approaches to their subjects.
"Perfect Form" opens Friday, June 16, and runs through June 27.
Figurative work is experiencing a renaissance in the art world. Dave and Morgan's subjects and under text are certainly major contributors to that movement. While each offers a distinct and personal take on the figure, both are based on classical work.
DAVE SEELEY
Dave and Morgan are artists at the top of their game, both in skill sets and vision. Each creates work charged with human emotions.
Both Laplante and Seeley express in an individual and distinct stylistic, emotional and conversational voice. The strong common denominator is narrative; their canvases are alive with humanity, story, and depth.
Seeley's work, which he describes as ethereal realism, leans towards nudes and portraiture. Faces look directly at the viewer, while full figures are oblivious to the watching eye, lost in a personal moment.
Whether capturing a visage, or a full figure, Seeley's strong, often existential, expressive images convey, true and complex emotions.
Much of LaPlante's work focuses on the contemporary, day-to-day moments, timeless, tender snapshots of women and children that make the ordinary extraordinary.
LaPlante's work portrays the beauty and pulse found in still moments.
Her images of children at play, in a still moment, or one of affection between mother and child, gives the viewer a feeling of observing an intimate second, unnoticed by the subject, lost in their reality.
There is so much depth to the work of these two artists; so much is intimately revealed. Each is a window into the person - for the artist, the subject, and the viewer. This is a show I am truly excited to share.
