An Accidental Breakthrough: New Work By Julie Shelton Smith
There will be an opening with the artist on Friday, August 26th from 7-9 PM
Smith’s new paintings are full of color with bold passages of thickly applied paint, and have many references to Provincetown’s gardening tradition. Smith notes, “After years of yearning to be a more painterly painter, an accident to my dominant arm forced me to dive in and learn to describe with thick mushy color instead of highly rendered line. The artworks of Barbara Cohen and Thomas Palmer provided stepping off points for these paintings.” The show runs through Thursday, September 1st.
